Ok, so you said make it happen so here it is. WHAT MAKES SHATZY HAPPY. WHAT MAKES HER SMILE?? No loss of hope, no asshole landlords. No what if's about God existing... but those true things that have no value to anyone else except her. The smell of rain in the morning, A Saturday spent doing nothing but watching cartoons, Watching stars fall?? Well you hold the answers please tell. I made the post.. now you make it a happy one. ;-)

of course money plays a large and important
part in the determination of 'happiness'....
tolstoy himself showed this.
(of course he also showed how having money
separates the rational from the common)

his point is not that money allows you to
purchase things that may make you happy...
but that it frees you from certain trials and
insecurities that you would encounter without
it... and gives you the 'leisure' time to
experience things of more 'worth' and that
which is more 'rich' in value.

his comparison of the land owner to the slave
(or field worker) shows that the field worker
isn't capable of enjoying the same type of
things the wealthy land owner can.... because
the worker is busy attempting to find a
plateau from his insecurities.

it is not to say that the worker isn't happy...
nor that the worker is incapable of being happy,
but what it does suggest is that the amount
of 'genuine' happiness is greater from the
land owner than the slave...
where the land owner can freely experience
great things (in nature, life, etc)... the
worker must create/establish/maintain his own
'artificial' happiness.
